Devá States Streetwear Brand from Indonesia

We are talking about Devá States, a brand founded in December 2015 by Theo Kusuma and Mol Edrin, two friends who are passionate about graphics and T-Shirts. The naming takes inspiration from the Sanskrit word “Deva’,” which can be translated into “spending,” “divine,” “something excellent,” which, combined with the word States, creates a play on words between “Divine State” and Devastate.”

The Streetwear brand is composed of a wide range of references, themes and disciplines, artistic movements from different eras, philosophies, and the most varied social phenomena, compose the cornucopia of visual stimuli translated into graphics, colors and texures.

The philosophy of the Devá States brand is essentially based on the theory of balance, typical of the traditional Japanese disciplines of Wabi-Sabi, according to which the beauty of imperfection should be celebrated: each garment represents an example of perfection and imperfection, in perfect balance.

The presentation of Devá States Fall / Winter 2022 is above all a search for unrealized values within our brand through improvisation and evaluation. The passion for graphic design remained intact, and expanded using printed patterns, revisited classic motifs on mohair garments and pacifist utility jackets.
