The Air Jordan 4 “Deep Ocean”, also called “sashiko-stitched”, features a special upper with a Japanese-inspired patchwork denim and the Sashiko embroidery: a form of Japanese folk embroidery using a variation of a running stitch to create a patterned background.

The Japanese word sashiko means “little stabs” and refers to the small stitches used in this form of needlework. This style of embroidery and the “sashiko stitch” was used to reinforce or repair worn fabric or tears with patches, now resumed from the Jordan Brand for one of the most wildly-styled AJ4 iteration ever.

Its intricate designed with an upper that blends together canvas and twill materials, both of which decorate with that of patchwork patterns influenced by Japanese craftwork.

Titular hues run the length of its upper by latching onto the base layers, cages, and heel pieces, and are color-blocked with subtly-placed notes of red atop the tongue branding and laces.
